Church Conversion

Jeffrey Jordan Architects obtained listed building consent and planning permission, on behalf of their client, for the conversion of this Grade II* listed church into a 4 bedroom house with new detached garage building.

While a dwelling, due to it’s requirements, will require various areas to be partitioned off, the design tries to keep large areas open and space around significant elements. The ground floor is to remain fully open apart from a small study on the south side. At first floor a large full height void has been kept in front of the east window which is an important feature of the church as well as over the main entrance so that when you walk in you can understand the full volume of the church. By including strip windows and a balcony at first floor level it also allows connectivity between the ground and first floor which again reduces the impact of a new first floor.
