Loft Conversion and Extension

At Jeffrey Jordan Architects, we recently completed a project to transform a historic terraced house in a conservation area, balancing modern needs with heritage preservation. The project included a rear extension and a loft conversion to create a new bedroom with a dormer.

Given the property’s location in a conservation area, the design had to be carefully considered to respect the building’s historical value while adding much-needed space. The rear extension was designed to complement the existing structure, enhancing the functionality of the home without compromising its character.

The loft conversion, featuring a new dormer, provides a bright and spacious bedroom with improved headspace and natural light, while seamlessly blending with the building’s original roofline.

Navigating the planning process was a key challenge, requiring close collaboration with local authorities to ensure compliance with conservation area regulations. We oversaw both the planning and technical design, ensuring that the project met modern standards while preserving the property’s historical charm.
